Christmas is just around the corner as everyone knows. The tree is up, the decorations are placed perfectly, and families and friends will gather to a feast that could make your stomachs full by just looking at it all. However, there are many that don't have this luxury this time of year.
I was reminded of that earlier today when a couple people showed up from my son's school and gave us a $150 gift card to Target from an anonymous donor. Since we have been struggling to get gifts for the family this year, this was a wonderful present to us here. I saw their expressions when they handed it to us and I thought. That is what I want to do.
This reminded me that there are others out there that are in far more need than I am and I would like to help out at least one person this year...even if I don't have the money to do so. How can that possibly be done you ask?
There are many ways to help other that are in need without having to spend a lot of money. Do you have an old coat or one that your children are too big to wear anymore? Send it to a family that needs one. Try giving to an organization such as
Coats For Kids or give it to someone you know that needs one.
Do you have a bunch of "can goods" in your cabinets that could be useful to others? You can send those to a hunger food drive of some sort as well.
It doesn't matter how you give, where you give, or how much you give this time of year. Make it a plan to try to give something. Remember, every little bit helps no matter how much or how little you can give. In fact, even just the smallest thing, can make a huge difference in someone's life and that smile from that person, can be the best gift you can receive from that person. Besides, it can make you feel good too and feeling good, is healthy.
You never know, one day when you are in need, it will come back to you as well. So go out there and help someone....I know I will!
